Rendina, Vuolu, Wells and Parsons (2015) produced the methods for their research by having the participants contacted by phone and e-mail to receive information on the study. The eligibility criteria for the first article was that the participants had to be eighteen to twenty-nine years of age, they had to report misuse of prescription drugs at least three times within the past six months and report the misuse of prescription drugs at least once in the past three months. The participants had to report their age, gender, sexual identity, race/ethnicity, highest education completed, parental socioeconomic status and employment status. The authors may have made these choices because they hypothesized that greater scores on motivational contexts indirectly influence prescription drug related problems and symptoms of dependency through the
