SCS 500 Final Paper Research Publication Credibility Analysis
Prescription drug abuse is a prevalent issue among young adults in the United States where misuse is a significant problem. Influences and motivations for the drug use among young adults are studied and the results are given in three articles that will be discussed throughout this paper.
Kelly, Parsons, Rendina, Vuolu, and Wells (2015) studied the role of motivational contexts associated with prescription drug misuse. This includes the frequency of misuse for three different prescription types and includes drug-related problems and dependency. The articles stated that it is important to discuss positive and negative motivational contexts of misuse and implement harm reduction measures. One of the two hypothesis are: that the motivational contexts will directly influence greater frequency of misuse of all prescription drug types. The article also hypothesizes that greater scores on motivational contexts indirectly influence prescription drug related problems and symptoms of dependency through the frequency of misuse. (Kelly, Parsons, Rendina, Vuolo, & Wells, 2014). For this article, the independent variable will be motivational contexts and the dependent variable will be prescription drug related problems...
