PSYC 353 An Argument for Animal Research (UMUC)
Animal testing and research has a long background spanning back to 500 BC, physician scientists such as Aristotle, Herophilus, Erasistratus performed experiments on animals to paint a clearer picture of living organisms kickstarting field of science and question that still exists to this day. Animal testing, also known as animal experimentation, animal research and in vivo testing, is the use of non-human animals in experiments that seek to control the variables that affect the behavior or biological system under study. Without the use of animal testing diabetics would not have access to insulin. Polio, a paralyzing disease that swept the world, is now vaccinated and has been almost completely eliminated.
